Jacob Arabov’s Timepieces are among the Highest Selling Lots at Antiquorum Geneva Auction

In a testament to the continued strength of the Jacob the Jeweler Arabov brand and the increasing appeal of its highly-complicated watches, two of the luxury watchmaker’s tourbillon timepieces achieved top ranking sales in the prestigious Antiquorum auction of “Important Collectors’ Wristwatches, Pocket Watches, Clocks and Horological Tools,” held at the Grand Hotel Kempinski in Geneva, Switzerland.

Jacob & Co.’s exceptional Crystal Tourbillon was the top selling lot at 420,000CHF while the firm’s titanium Napoleon Quadra garnered the third highest selling lot at 312,000CHF.

The two extremely rare timepieces were part of a selection of Swiss made modern tourbillon watches that included some of the world’s most esteemed brands and helped propel record-breaking sales at the auction.

The Crystal Tourbillon precisely exemplifies Jacob the Jeweler’s technical ability and mastery of complications combined with its high jewelry expertise. Considered a work of art by watch connoisseurs, the Crystal Tourbillon’s transparent dial and exhibition case back showcase a floating skeleton tourbillon with sapphire bridge. The exquisite movement is framed in an 18k white gold case and adorned by 17.48 carats of invisibly set baguette-cut diamonds. The Crystal Tourbillon was created in a limited edition of only 18 pieces.

Innovation is a hallmark of Jacob & Co. and is evident in the titanium Napoleon Quadra. Crafted from titanium, the unique timepiece features a transparent sapphire disk revealing the skeletonized four tourbillon escapements and four time zone apertures. The Napoleon Quadra is handcrafted and features 652 components. Another Jacob & Co. ‘world first,’ the watch is produced in a limited edition of only 18 pieces.

The impressive results achieved by these two timepieces at the Antiquorum auction parallel those achieved by Jacob Arabov’s jewelry pieces at Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite auction held in Hong Kong, October 2008. In a similar play of events, a spectacular Jacob & Co. cushion-shaped diamond ring was the highest selling item at $5.78 million, while a yellow gold and diamond necklace and earring was the fourth at $960,624.

Despite the challenging economic times, the brand continues to attract new customers and the exceptional timepieces and jewelry continue to yield record breaking sales at prominent auction houses. Jacob & Co. is consistently one of the most sought-after luxury brands in the world.

Jacob Arabo on Unveiled Olympic Torch for London 2012

The Olympic torch for London 2012 has been unveiled but is it a tasteful piece of perforated, gold-colored design. Celebrity jeweler Jacob Arabo gives his own evaluation on the same.

According to the source, East London designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby say they wanted it to resemble a piece of sporting equipment rather than a trophy. They described it as ”physically light and visually light” but their 80cm tall perforated gold creation has divided commentators.

High profile fan of Olympics and designer jewelry, Jacob Arabo, also known as Jacob the Jeweler Arabo who is immensely popular among rappers and celebrities, including David Beckham, Bono and Elton John also evaluated the designing of Olympic torch.

He said, “It reflects a sleek and modern architectural design of the current times. It has a very aerodynamic look which is representative of athletic performance.”
The use of soft, durable and lightweight aluminum alloy won praise from him as did the perforations that have led to the cheese grater jibes.

“I particularly liked the symbolism of 8,000 holes representing the runners from all around the world,” Arabo says. “This is a credible detail and evokes the inspiration needed to build this iconic piece.”

Some newspaper readers have complained that the torch is reminiscent of “bling” jewelry. But Jacob the Jeweler, who has been referred to in dozens of tracks by artists like 50 Cent, Kanye West and Jay-Z, says it hits all the right notes.
“The representation of a torch with significance was accomplished here. It requires special craftsmanship to build these pieces which calls for time, knowledge and specific skill, much like the athletes who participate.”

He further stated, “I think it looks very elegant – a bit like one of the old fashioned cigarette holders you saw in 30s and 40s Hollywood films.”

Diamond Tourbillon a Sophisticated Creation from Jacob the Jeweler Arabo

Jacob AraboAmong all the Jacob Arabo’s timepiece styles, one of the most precious is the limited edition Diamond Tourbillon, which combines the sophistication of a tourbillon device with a full 15.80 carat gem-quality pave diamond case and dial.

Jacob the Jeweler Arabo’s brilliant yet simple dial also includes a jeweled, circular date indicator at the twelve o’clock position, with the rotating tourbillon device visible at the six o’clock position.

The Diamond Tourbillon from Jacob the Jeweler is offered in platinum and 18K rose gold. Only 18 pieces will be produced in each metal.

The 25-jewel movement features a mechanical, manual winding tourbillon device, STT 13.75 caliber. It also has a right-angle level escapement and a 72 hour power reserve. (The tourbillon device’s purpose is to eliminate errors of rate in the vertical position. It consists of a mobile carriage or cage carrying all of the parts of the escapement, with the balance in the center. The escape pinion turns about the fixed fourth wheel. The case makes one revolution per minute, thus annulling errors of rate in the vertical positions).

Jacob the Jeweler — A Tale of Success

Jacob made his name creating outrageous jewelry for hip hop’s biggest stars. Now as he prepares to move his business uptown, “Jacob the Jeweler” Arabo is putting the spotlight on his more delicate side.

Joseph Arabo, better known as Jacob the Jeweler is a mass of energy. Anyone who knows anything about modern celebrity culture has heard the name and seen the product. As for the man himself, Jacob the Jeweler is something of an enigma. People think he makes diamond guns, crosses, and Jesus heads. He is capable of doing jewelry for everyone, not just athletes and rappers. He has jewelry for little five-year-old girls and for girls who want to buy two-million-dollar pink earrings.

Twenty-five years ago, Arabo, his parents, and two of his four sisters came to New York from Russia. His father was in the liquor business and his mom stayed at home. Though his father had hoped for Arabo to continue the family business of making vodka and wine, he had other ideas. At 16, Arabo left school to study jewelry-making. After four months of training, he fibbed about his age so he could qualify for his first job. Nine months later, he had increased his weekly salary from $125 to $1,500 by started designing new jewelry and for the company in which he was working and within a year he had 10 jewelers working for himself.

It was Arabo’s passion for his business that catapulted him to financial success. He literally went to the ends of the earth. He went to Brazil, Africa, to Russia to buy diamonds. He actually went to the worst places of Brazil, where it is dangerous to find precious diamonds. It is representative of the way he has pushed himself from his days as a teenager.

Arabo made a famous four-finger ring for Biz Markie. Arabo introduced the music industry to better-quality diamonds. He brought platinum into the jewelry business and everyone converted.

Always on the move, Arabo is partnering with DeBeers diamonds to move out of the place that’s been home to his business for 18 years. He has a new location for his office which is very glamorous. It is directly, across the street from the Four Seasons Hotel.

Jacob the Jeweler Arabov have a great business philosophy which is like ‘Whatever you do in life, you have to do the finest, the best. Otherwise, do not do it. You do it from the heart. Your good faith in what you deliver will come back to you 10 times over.’ That is what they actually do. They make sure that what they sell to the customer is happiness, quality-wise and looks-wise.

Jacob Arabov’s Baguette Ruby Tourbillon / 24 Time Zone

Jacob Arabov’s new method of diamond and gem- setting results in unrivaled levels of brilliance

At Basel 2005, Jacob the Jeweler introduced the first automatic timepiece marrying a tourbillon device with multiple time zone technology. For 2009, Jacob & Co. has reinvented the Baguette Tourbillon with a stunning new Ruby case and dial, showcasing Jacob & Co.’s remarkable gem-setting techniques. Jacob the Jeweler Arabov has taken their timepiece and revolutionized the series with its creation of the Ruby Tourbillon, a timepiece unsurpassed for its technology and beauty.

To develop exceptional timepieces with maximum scintillation, Jacob the Jeweler Arabov developed a new method of placing stones on the dial. The face of the Baguette Tourbillon has been set with absolutely no visible gold, resulting in a total fusion of elements on the dial. Thus nothing impedes the light entering or leaving creating an unimagined level of brilliance.

The newly created Baguette Ruby Tourbillon timepiece set in 18K white gold features an impressive 204 baguette Burmese rubies on the dial (5.98cts) and a total of 294 baguette Burmese rubies on the bezel and case (33.34cts). Equally stunning is Jacob the Jeweler’s Diamond Tourbillon, distinctive in its design, particularly for its extensive use of D-color, flawless baguette diamonds, giving a sophisticated flair to the collection. Specifically, the timepiece is designed with 482 specially cut baguette diamonds (as well as several specially cut trapazoid diamonds), for a total of 28 carats set on the dial, bezel, and case.

Also subtly placed on each dial are three circular timers, capturing the time in 24 additional world cities, including Los Angeles, Seoul, Auckland, New York, Rio, Paris, Bangkok, Dubai, Sydney, Phoenix, Honolulu, Tashkent, London, Caracas, Hong Kong, Nairobi, Las Vegas, Buenos Aires, Abu Dhabi, Hobart, Jakarta, Suva, Chicago, and Geneva. This technological feature makes the watch truly unique and distinctively Jacob & Co.

Jacob & Co.’s time zone technology was originally created to address the versatility of his world traveling clients; it has become associated with the ultimate in customized luxury.

Jacob Arabov credits the inspiration for his designs to the fast paced, ever demanding lifestyle of his clients; including David Beckham, Justin Timberlake, Bono, Angela Bassett, Jessica Alba, Madonna, Sir Elton John, Naomi Campbell, Sean Combs and Derek Jeter.

Jacob Arabo’s Black Baguette Diamond Rainbow Tourbillon

Jacob Arabo’s Black Baguette Diamond Rainbow Tourbillon is sleek sophistication with the ability to tantalize.

When Jacob the Jeweler Arabo introduced the first automatic timepiece marrying a tourbillon device with multiple time zone technology, it was a much talked about revelation in watch making by Jacob Arabo . In the year 2005, Jacob & Co. has taken the timepiece and set it with black baguette diamonds, creating the unique, limited-edition Black Baguette Diamond Rainbow Tourbillion. Showing the evolution of the brand, the Black Baguette Diamond Rainbow Tourbillion utilizes their previously developed custom method of placing diamonds directly on the dial as shown in its sister watch, the Baguette Rainbow Tourbillon, creating a timepiece unsurpassed for its technology and design, but with an understated edge.

The stones on the face of the Black Baguette Diamond Rainbow Tourbillon have been set with absolutely no visible metal between the crystal and the diamonds, resulting in a total fusion of the elements on the dial. Nothing impedes the refraction of light on the diamonds – perfecting the look of stealth modernity.

“With all my new timepieces, especially my limited editions, I try and venture someplace that no one has been before,” said Jacob the Jeweler, Jacob & Co. founder. “I am particularly proud of this new Black Baguette Diamond Rainbow Tourbillon, as it combines my aesthetic sensibilities and technical pursuit of perfection.”

Cast in 18K white gold and paved in 204 baguette-cut black diamonds, the limited-edition piece boasts 33.54 carats including its buckle, with understated individually set baguette background with black geometric timers, with leaf-shaped, steel hands in a gun-metal treatment suspended above. The movement features Jacob & Co. pave bridges and a handmade finish.

On this limited edition, the tourbillon motion is visible through the dial. An exhibition case back also allows the movement to show through the sapphire crystal. (The tourbillon device’s purpose is to eliminate errors of rate in the vertical position. It consists of a mobile carriage or cage carrying all of the parts of the escapement, with the balance in the center. The escape pinion turns about the fixed fourth wheel. The case makes one revolution per minute, thus annulling errors of rate in the vertical positions.)

The specific time zone functionality varies by style, with the timepieces covering 24 time zones in addition to the primary zone of the wearer. The 24 jewel movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, with a 120 hour power reserve. The movement is a mechanical, manual winding tourbilllon device.
